According to the Free Trade Union of Iranian Workers, six prisoners with coronavirus have died in Greater Tehran Prison since the spread of the Coronavirus in Iranian prisons.
As of Wednesday, March 25th, 2020, the death toll of prisoners with coronavirus in the Greater Tehran Prison has reached six people.
According to informed sources, the condition of the prison wards are currently extremely deteriorating in health and environment. The inmates in the rooms are crowded and overpopulated. Many prisoners do not have beds to sleep on, and sleep on the polluted ground. The only sanitation device in the prison is dishwashing liquid and the prisoners are in poor psychological conditions.
Despite the Corona outbreak in the Greater Tehran Prison (Fashafoyeh), prison agents and authorities have been silent on the outbreak of the Coronavirus so far and have not reported on the status of political and ordinary prisoners. As a result, many inmates in the Greater Tehran Prison are at risk for the Coronavirus.
