The Constitution of the Islamic Republic does not recognize Baha’i as a religion or a fate. Iranian Baha’is are deprived of their basic rights such as the right to education and work and the freedom to hold religious ceremonies. The detention and imprisonment of Baha’is continued for four decades. Several Baha’i leaders and believers have also been executed in the early years of the Islamic Republic and their property confiscated.
