Reza Mohammad Hosseini and Khaled Pirzadeh, two inmates in ward four of Evin Prison, were sentenced to total of twenty-three and half Years in prison by Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court chaired by Judge Moghiseh.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Reza Mohammad Hosseini and Khaled Pirzadeh, two inmates in ward four of Evin Prison, were sentenced to 16 and 1/2 years and 7 years in prisons respectively on charges of “gathering and colluding against the country”, “insulting the leadership”, “disobeying the order of the officers” and “leaving the country illegally”.
The lawyer for the two prisoners, Ali Sharifzadeh, confirmed the news, wrote on his Instagram page: “My clients Reza Mohammad Hosseini and Khaled Pirzadeh sentences were announced by Judge Moghiseh at the Revolutionary Court’s Branch 28. Reza Mohammad Hosseini was sentenced to 16 and a half years in prison. Based on the of Article 610, 7 years for “gathering and colluding against the country”, 3 years for “insulting the leadership”, 1 year for “disobeying the order of the officers” and 5 years for “leaving the country illegally”. The 5/7 years of sentences will be upheld. Mr. Khaled Pirzadeh was sentenced to 5 years in prison for “gathering and colluding against the country”, 2 years for “insulting the leadership”. The 5 years of sentences will be upheld.
Mr. Mohammad Hosseini was arrested by the Revolutionary Guard Intelligence forces in May of 2019 and transferred to Ward 2-A of Evin Prison for interrogation and coercion.
After 3 months, this political prisoner was transferred to Quarantine Ward of prison and after 70 days was transferred to Ward 4 of Evin Prison.
According to the report, the third branch of the Evin Security Prosecutor’s Office charges were communicated to Mr. Mohammad Hosseini. The first hearing of his case was held at Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court on Wednesday November 27th, 2019.
Mr. Mohammad Hosseini, who had been on a hunger strike since Sunday, December 1st, 2019, in protest to continued detention and not issuing bail, was sent to hospital after 35 days of hunger strike.
Ali Sharifzadeh, the defense lawyer of Mr. Mohammad Hosseini, confirmed the news and in a note on his personal page wrote: “My client Mr. Reza Mohammad Hosseini, who has been tried at Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court and has not yet been sentenced. With the demand of temporary release, he went on a hunger strike 35 days ago. He was taken to Evin Prison Medical Center after being deteriorated physically and having low blood pressure. “
