The family of activist Mohammad Mahmoudi (Azerbaijani Turk) who was arrested during the November 2019 protests, has been summoned to the Tabriz Intelligence Agency’s News headquarters and interrogated.
Protests across the country against the gasoline price increase by three times started on Friday, November 15th, 2019, and it was brutally suppressed by the security and law enforcement. Hundreds were killed and injured, and thousands were arrested during the protests.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, on Sunday night, November 17th, 2019, Tabriz resident Mohammad Mahmoudi was arrested by intelligence officials and taken to an unknown location.
According to this report, Mr. Mahmoudi’s family has been summoned and interrogated by the Tabriz Intelligence Agency’s News headquarters in recent days.
An informed source told the Campaign: “Mr. Mahmoudi’s family has been interrogated by the Tabriz Intelligence Agency’s News headquarters on the threat of summoning his wife and little daughter and in an illegal and inhumane manner with unrelated questions.”
No information yet is available on the reason for Mr. Mahmoudi’s arrest and location of his detention.
This Tabriz residence was previously detained by security forces in a gathering for commemoration of the May 2018 Protests deaths in Naqadeh, on May 27th, 2018.
