Yashar Darulshafa, a leftist student activist and social researcher, was arrested by security forces.
According to the Campaign to Defend Political and Civil Prisoners, Yashar Darulshafa was arrested by security forces at one of his friend’s house and taken to an unknown location on Thursday, November 21st, 2019. Security officials are said to have gone to his home after his arrest and seized some of his personal belongings.
According to informed sources, around 7 AM today, about 20 security agents arrested Mr. Darulshafa by breaking through the door of his friend’s house. After arresting Mr. Darulshafa, agents took him to his home and after seized some of his belongings, taken him to an unknown location.
According to the news, the detainee agency was the Ministry of Intelligence, but his relatives still do not know the reason for his arrest and whereabouts.
Yashar Darulshafa, was conditionally released from Evin Prison after serving 4 years and 2 months of his 5 years sentence in November 2016.
The leftist student activist, a graduate of Tehran University’s Master of Social Well-being Planning, was previously sentenced to 7 years in prison on charges of “gathering and colluding to act against national security” and “insulting the president” in court chaired by judge Abolghasem Salavati. The appeals court reduced his sentence to five and a half years in prison.
During the massive protests after the 10th presidential election, for the first time, Mr. Darulshafa was arrested and detained for 20 days in Evin Prison on November 4th, 2009. He and 6 of his family members were summoned on February 4th, 2010. They were detained in Evin prison in wards 240 and 350 for 32 days.
Yashar Darulshafa, former secretary of the Islamic Reformist Students Association in International University of Qazvin and a master’s student in Social Well-being Planning major at the University of Tehran, is one of seven members of the Darulshafa family who was arrested on 2010 and all were taken to Evin prison.
This student activist had entered the University of Tehran with the rank 4 in postgraduate exams.
