Asghar Amirzadegan, a teacher and activist of Fars province, was summoned to the judicial authorities in Firoozabad.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Asghar Amirzadegan, a mathematics teacher and activist from Shiraz, has been summoned to the Prosecutor’s Office of Firoozabad in Fars province on April 20th, 2019 on the charges of “propaganda against the regime” and “publication of lies”.
In a summons dated April 14th, 2019, Mr. Amirzadegan was informed, “Within 5 days this notice, you need to appear at the Firoozabad Intelligence police station. In the case of no show, an arrest warrant will be issued.”
In recent years, a number of teachers and trade union activists such as Mahmoud Beheshti Langroudi, Sedigheh Pakzamir, Ismail Abdi, Mohammad Habibi, Mohammad Sani, Rouhani Mardani, Rasoul Bodaghi, Alya Taghgosvist, Hashem Kamar, Mohammad Taghi Falahi, Rahman Abedini, Ismael Gerami, Abolfazl Azizi, Hassan Gholami, Mokhtar Asadi, Iraj Tobahi (Najaf Abadi), and more have been arrested or summoned, or have been released from prison after serving their sentences.
Teachers’ Activists and Trade Organizations have repeatedly criticized the policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran government over education and culture by publishing statements or holding peaceful gatherings in Tehran and other cities, which has sometimes faced oppression and detention.
Among them, there are three sitting protest of teachers in different provinces of the country that were held in October, November, and March 2018.
