A lawyer was detained by security guards and transferred to the Orumieh Information Bureau detention center.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, security guards arrested Masoud Shamsnejad, a lawyer and former professor of Payam-e-Nour University in Orumieh, during a court hearing of one of his client in the Orumieh court. He was then transferred to the Orumieh Information Office detention center.
An informed source said: “After the arrest of a lawyer who also represents a number of Kurdish political prisoners, security forces went to his law office and then his home, searching and taking all materials from his work safes, including a number of his personal belongings”
It needs to be explained that this lawyer was sentenced to 4 months imprisonment by the Orumieh Revolutionary Court Branch on April 2014, on charges of “propaganda and membership in opposition parties”. On Monday, January 12th, 2015, after four months of imprisonment, he was released from prison.
