A teacher, writer, and poet from Abadan was arrested by city security forces.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, On Sunday December 31th, 2018, Kourosh Karampur, the director of the weekly “Yadegari”, a poet and writer from Abadan, was arrested in front of the Abadan court, by security guards and transferred to one of the Revolutionary Guard detention center in to Ahvaz.
Shahed Alavi, a journalist living in the United States, wrote regarding the arrest of this high school teacher, wrote: “Southern poet and writer Kourosh Karampur was arrested in front of the Abadan Judiciary officer, on Sunday morning December 30th, 2018. He was trying to find out about the reason for the Revolutionary Guard’s visit to his house. After the arrest, he was transferred to one of the Revolutionary Guard detention center in Ahvaz. On Saturday night, the Revolutionary Guard intelligence forces had gone to his house to arrest him. “
Kourosh Karampur, 40, from Abadan, is a poet and literary journalist in Iran and Abadan. He published works such as “Woman Child” in 2002, “Issued from Abadan” in 2005, and most recently “Our Lord, Remember Iran.” He is the author and director of the weekly “Yedegari”. His poems are written in Abadani dialect, which is special among his fans, especially in Khuzestan province.
During the past years, he was summoned by the judicial authorities of Khuzestan on charges of “publishing falsehoods.”
