The prison authorities, with an ordered from the Ministry of Intelligence, prevented Zaynab Jalalian from her family visit.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Khoy Prison officials prevented Zaynab Jalalian, the only female political prisoner sentenced to life imprisonment, to have a visit with her family on Monday, December 24th, 2018.
The Ministry of Intelligence has ordered Khoy Prison authorities to band Zaynab Jalalian from any visit with her family.
Zaynab Jalalian, a Kurdish political prisoner, was born in 1382 in the village of Deim Gheshlagh Maku, from the West Azarbaijan province. In 2008, at the age of 25, she was arrested by the Kermanshah’s intelligence services and was transferred to Sanandaj Prison. She was finally sentenced to death on December 2008, on charges of “Moharebeh through her membership in the PJAK party” in a short closed-door trial, in secret and without her lawyer present.
The death sentence was later confirmed by the Supreme Court. On October 2011, after repeated requests by Mohammad Sharif to the Supreme Court’s authorities to overturn the verdict and with the leadership’s pardoning, Zeynab’s sentence was reduced to life imprisonment.
Zainab Jalalian was subjected to severe mental and physical torture during her arrest in the detention center for a month.
Zeinab Jalalian, both during the arrest and afterwards, suffered from vision loss due to severe physical torture and since then suffers from visual impairment.
