Workers who had been protesting “recruiting non-native forces” and “dismissing 11 of their colleagues” during April of this year were sentenced to prison sentences and whipping for “disturbing public order and peace”.
On April 23rd, 2018, the local forces of the Ilam Petrochemical Company held a protest rally in protest of hiring non-indigenous forces in petrochemicals.
One of the workers’ protests was the expulsion of 11 colleagues; now protesters in the court were sentenced to prison sentences for allegedly “disturbing public order”.
Roozbeh Boulahari, a journalist and the editor-in-chief of Radio Farda, announced on his Twitter page that 15 Ilam petrochemical workers were sentenced to total 9 years in jail and 1110 lashes respectively.
