Expensive truck parts and supplies due to rising exchange rates over the past few months is one of the main reasons for the truckers strike in recent days.
Yesterday, on September 26th, 2018, these strikes continued in the cities of “Ardebil, Gorgan, Tehran, Isfahan, Neyshabur, Zarinshahr, Qazvin, Kermanshah, Ahwaz, Shush, Zanjan, Tabriz and Sirjan,” and according to news and images published on social networks, the protests have continued today as well.
Eisa, a truck driver in Tehran, told about the reasons for the strike earlier: “Truckers have a telegram channel and they are connected through the whole country. On Friday, they announced that they would strike on Saturday, and it has happened. “
He believes that the expensive truck parts and supplies due to rising exchange rates over the past few months is one of the main reasons for the strike.
Mohsen Bigdeli, a member of the Gorgan Truckers Syndicate, also emphasized that the truckers’ demand was not simply to increase the rental rates, and explained to the campaign’s reporter that: “Our problems are not just the fares, because we believe the spare parts and appliances should be at 4200 USD for us. “
The truckers strike in various cities of the country began on September 23rd, 2018, in response to a call in social networks.
Truckers strike started for the first time on May this year and lasted more than two weeks. Truckers demanded a reduction in commission rates, an increase in fares and state subsidies for premium payments; the strike ended with a government decision to raise fares and help drivers and truckers.
