Mehrnaz Haghighi, a civil activist who had been sentenced to six months imprisonment by Bandar Abbas Revolutionary Court, was transferred to the Bandar Abbas central prison for her imprisonment term.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Mehrnaz Haghighi, a human rights activist, was transferred to Bandar Abbas prison on Saturday, September 22nd, 2018, to serve her 6 months imprisonment.
The campaign earlier reported that the civil activist and physician resident in Bandar Abbas had been sentenced by the City Revolutionary Court to six months of imprisonment for “using propaganda against the regime”.
It was also reported that during the arrest of Mrs. Haghighi, her household items were searched by the security forces and her mobile phone was seized as a “tool of crime”.
Ms. Haghighi was arrested by the Bandar Abbas Intelligence Agents on February 19th. 2017, and after a week of interrogation in City’s Information Office solidarity confinement, she was transferred to the Bandar Abbas general prison woman ward. On April 12th, 2017, she was transferred from to Evin prison ward 209, and eventually released on bail on May 28th, 2017.
