Last night in Sanandaj Central Prison, several prison guards clashed with prisoners while attempting to remove Ramin Hosseinpanahi from the prison. Many prisoners intervened and rebelled against the prison guards, which led to a sharp clash that stopped Ramin’s removal.
According to the latest information on this clash on Friday, June 15th, 2018, more than 20 people were injured. According to one of the prisoners, it seems that the prison authorities intended to detain Ramin Hussein Panahi, who was arrested by the agents of the prison, who, with the intervention of his other allies, led to a large rebellion. During the fight, prison guards called for additional security, which worsened the clash. At the end, about 20 people were injured, both prisoners and prison guards.
According to recent reports, these clashes continued until Saturday, June 16th, 2018, and a state of emergency has already been announced in Sanandaj Central Prison.
Kurdistan’s Justice Department, earlier on May 13, 1397, demanded that “Ramin Hosseinpanahi has to be executed as soon as possible on rebellion charges.”
on May 19th, 2018, the Sanandaj Central Prison security authorities notified Ramin Hosseinpanahi of his death sentence, and he was told that “he will certainly be executed after month of Ramadan.”
Ramin Hosseinpanahi ‘s death sentence was issued even though he denied all the alleged charges, such as participation in the armed conflict. The lawyer of the Kurdish political prisoner also considered the sentence unexpected and unjust.
Ramin Hosseinpanahi, a political activist, was arrested on June 23th, 2018, and transferred to the Sanandaj Central Prison after 200 days of solitary confinement after going through extreme physical and mental torture. Ramin was sentenced to death on January 15th, 2018, in Sanandaj Revolutionary Court Branch One. The verdict was reaffirmed on April 11th, 2018, at Branch 39 of the Supreme Court in Qom.
