Mehrnaz Haghighi, a civil activist and physician residing in Bandar Abbas who was arrested on February 2017 by the city’s intelligence agency on charge of “propaganda against the regime”, and released on bail on May 2017, was sentenced to six-month imprisonment by the Bandar Abbas Revolutionary Court.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Mehrnaz Haghighi, a civil activist and physician resident in Bandar Abbas, was sentenced to six months of imprisonment by the city Revolutionary Court on the charge of “propaganda against the regime”.
It has reported that during her arrest, her house was fully inspected and her cell phone that was identified as a “crime pen” by the security forces was taken and they refused to return it to her.
Ms. Haghighi was arrested by the Bandar Abbas intelligence agents on February 19th, 2017, and after one-week interrogation in solidarity confinement of the city’s information office, was transferred to the general ward of Bandar Abbas prison. Then she was transferred to Evin prison ward 209, and eventually released on bail on May 28th, 2017.
