Dayeh Mina Soltani, the mother of Shahriar Mohammadi, one of the victims of the recent protests, remains detained in the Urmia Intelligence Detention Center 11 days after her arrest, with no information about her current condition.

According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Dayeh Mina Soltani, the mother of Shahriar Mohammadi, a victim of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” protest movement, was arrested by security forces in Bukan on September 11, 2024.

Eleven days have passed since her arrest, and no precise details about her condition or whereabouts have been released.

Reports indicate that she was arrested for seeking justice for her murdered son. Her detention occurred just before the second anniversary of the state killing of Zhina Mahsa Amini, during a new wave of arrests targeting civil activists and the families of those killed.

This illegal arrest, carried out without a judicial warrant, signals the ongoing widespread repression of the families of victims and civil activists.

Torture and prolonged interrogations in intelligence detention centers are common methods used to silence critics and the families of victims.

The continued detention of Dayeh Mina Soltani, along with her lack of access to a lawyer or her family, has raised concerns about her physical and mental well-being. This situation is a blatant violation of human rights and freedom of expression.

This tragic event once again highlights the urgent issue of human rights violations in Iran and the pressing need for serious investigation into such cases and prosecution of those responsible.
