On Sunday April 28th, 2024, the death sentence of Rashid Balochi, a 35-year-old Baloch prisoner from Saravan, was carried out in Bandar Abbas Prison.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Balochi, who had a red card (indicating neurological and psychiatric problems), got into a fight with a retired taxi driver from the Revolutionary Guards about seven years ago on Kish Island. After verbal abuse and altercation, he committed murder.
Despite medical documents indicating Rashid’s mental condition, the court, without considering this matter, sentenced him to death.
Balochi’s family had their last meeting with him one day before the execution.
