Shakila Monfared, a political prisoner in Evin Prison, despite being sick, has been deprived of being sent to the hospital and medical leave.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, in recent days, Shakila Monfared, while suffering from gallstones, has been denied to be sent to medical centers and also has been denied the right to use medical leave due to the hindrance of Evin Prison officials.
According to informed sources, the authorities of Evin Prison are hindering the release of Ms. Monfared by setting a heavy bail of one billion tomans and also the condition of being under the supervision of the electronic binding system.
In February of 2021, Ms. Monfared was sentenced to six years in prison by the Revolutionary Court of Tehran for the charge of “propaganda activity against the system and insulting the sanctities of Islam”, which was eventually reduced to four years and two months.
In 2021, with another case during her imprisonment, she was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison by the appeals court of Tehran province for the charge of “membership in groups opposing the regime” and for the charge of “spreading falsehoods” and the fine of 10 million tomans in cash.
On August, 31st, 2020, Mrs. Monfared was arrested by government forces in Tehran and after some time was transferred to Evin Prison.
