The death sentence of three prisoners in the so-called “Isfahan House” case, namely Saleh Mirhashemi, Majid Kazemi Sheikh Shabani and Saeed Yaqoubi Kurdsafli, was executed in Isfahan Central Prison.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, the death sentences of Saleh Mirhashemi, Majid Kazemi Sheikh Shabani and Saeed Yaqoubi Kurdsafli, the arrested protesters of the so-called “Isfahan House” case, were executed on the morning of Friday May 19th, 2023.
According to this report, the Supreme Court confirmed the verdicts issued against Saleh Mirhashemi, Majid Kazemi and Saeed Yaqoubi, for the charge of (warfare by drawing firearms), but the second death sentence for Sayyed Saleh Mir Mirhashemi and the imprisonment for Majid Kazemi Sheikh Shabani and Saeed Yaqoubi Kurdsafli were rejected.
An informed source told our reporter that: “there is no evidence in this case except the forced confessions of the defendants against themselves and each other. Even the picture of the scene does not show anything. The defendants were present at the protest scene that night. None of them admitted that they shot at the officers. The only evidence for defendants’ shooting at the officers is their forced confessions against each other. Even in this forced confession against themselves, they did not confess to the shooting.”
It should be noted that in early January 2023, Saleh Mirhashemi Baltaghi, son of Seyyed Kazem, as a first-row defendant of the case, on charges of (warfare by drawing a hand gun), (forming and managing a criminal group with the intention of disrupting the security of the country) and (assembly and collusion leading to crimes against internal security) was sentence to death and for the charge of (membership and cooperation with the People’s Mujaheddin Organization) to 10 years of imprisonment.
Majid Kazemi Sheikh Shabani was also sentenced to death for the charge of (warfare by pulling Kalashnikov weapons) and for the charges (Membership in illegal gangs and groups with the intention of disrupting the security of the country) and (assembly and collusion leading to crimes against internal security) to 10 years in prison.
Saeed Yaqoubi Kurdsafli, son of Karam Ali, as the third-row defendant in the case, for the charge of (combat by drawing a weapon and using hand gun) was sentenced to death and for the charges of (membership in illegal gangs and crowds with the intention of disrupting the country’s security) and (assembly and collusion leading to crimes against the country’s internal security) to 10 years in prison.
On November 16th, 2022, three members of the Basij forces named “Mohsen Cheraghi”, “Mohsen Hamidi” and “Mohammed Karimi” were killed in the security square of “Isfahan House” (“Khane Isfahan”) neighborhood.
The security forces claimed that the killing of these forces was a “terrorist act” and arrested 6 people in connection with this case.
In the course of this case, Saleh Mirhashemi was accused of “warfare” by drawing a weapon, Majid Kazemi was accused of “warfare” by drawing a Kalashnikov weapon, Saeed Yaqoubi was accused of “warfare” by drawing a gun.
