Soheil Arabi, a political prisoner who had been transferred to solitary confinement in Rajai Shahr Prison since September this year, was transferred to Ward 2A of Evin Prison.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Soheil Arabi, a political prisoner was transferred to Ward 2A of Evin Prison on October 20th, 2020. Earlier, on September 18th, 2020, he was transferred to solitary confinement in Rajai Shahr Prison in Karaj on the pretext of being transferred to a medical facility in the 5th Brigade of the Greater Tehran Prison.
Today, Mr. Arabi confirmed this news during a short contact with his family and said that he supposed to be interrogated in this ward for about two months.
In November 2013, Soheil Arabi was first charged with “Sab al-Nabi” and sentenced to death for writing critical articles on social media. Later his sentence was reduced to seven years in prison.
Soheil Arabi suffers from a number of physical problems, including a severe cough, severe hypoglycemia, severe pain due to “blunt trauma” and body infection.
Soheil Arabi has been in detention and imprisonment since November 7th, 2013. He has been denied temporary prison leave all this time.
While he was serving a 7-year and six-month prison sentence in Greater Tehran Prison after many changes in the trial process and the verdicts handed down, a new case was opened against him in prison. On September 22nd, 2018, on his new case, the Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran sentenced him to 3 years in prison, 3 years in exile, and a fine on charges of “propaganda activities against the regime” and “disturbing the public mind.”
