Omid Asadi, a civil and labor activist, was summoned to the fourth branch of the appeals court of Kurdistan province by a letter. Previously, this citizen was convicted by a Revolutionary Court in two separate cases for a one-year imprisonment and one year suspension of imprisonment.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, the Fourth Branch of the Kurdistan Regional Court of Appeals summoned Omid Asadi, a civil and workers’ rights activist of Kamyaran City, through written communication for Saturday July 6th, 2019.
According to this summon, Mr. Asadi was asked to appear at Branch 4 of the Appeal Court of Kurdistan on July 6th, 2019 at 9 AM, regarding the case filed by the Public and Revolutionary Tribunal of Kamyaran City for the charges of “promoting in favor of the opposition groups and organizations of the Islamic Republic of Iran in cyberspace.”
In June of this year, according to a verdict by the first branch of the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj, Mr. Asadi was sentenced to one-year suspended imprisonment for “acting against national security through cooperation with opposition parties”. It was also reported that this activist was sentenced to a one-year imprisonment last year, and the summons was due to his protest against the verdict.
Mr. Asadi, one of the civil and labor activists, was arrested by the Intelligence Agencies in the city of Kamyaran on August 21st, 2018, and was temporary released on a bail of 100 million Tomans on Wednesday September 5th, 2018.
The reason for Mr. Asadi’s arrest at that time was “participation in various support campaigns, including the support of Ramin Hosseinpanahi.”
It is vital to note that on the morning of September 8th, 2018, political prisoner Ramin Hosseinpanahi’s was executed in the Karaj Rajayishahr Prison.
