Ahmad Taghavi, a retired teacher from Abhar, was temporarily released on 100 million Tomans bail.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, on January 12th, 2019, Ahmad Taghavi, a retired teacher and activist, was released temporarily on 100 million Tomans bail. He was arrested by security forces in Abhar on December 19th, 2018 and was transferred to the Zanjan Information Detention Center.
During the interrogation process, Ahmad Taghavi, who was arrested following a speech at the Abhar retired teacher’s protest, was charged with “disrupting public order” and “propaganda against the regime”.
An informed source told the campaign: “Mr. Taghavi was transferred to the Zanjan Information Office after being arrested with “disrupting public order“ and “propaganda against the regime”. The judge issued a 50 million Tomans bail on charges of “disrupting the public order” and another 50 million Tomans bail on charges of “propaganda against the regime”.
It was said that this retired teacher had a remonstrant speech in a Abhar’s retirees rally in front of the city governorate office on December 19th, 2018.
A source close to the family of Ahmad Taghavi told the campaign, “After the speech, he had a few suspicious phone calls from a security agency, and it seems that the detention is related to the speech.”
