Worker activist Mahmoud Salehi pointed to a number of principles for reducing labor organizations’ problems for all labor activists in Iran, Kurdistan, and existing labor organizations.
According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Mahmoud Salehi, a labor activist from Saqez and founding member of the Coordinating Committee to Help Establishment of Workers’ Associations, for workers’ organization attention and information, addressed all labor activists and said, “Compliance with these four principles will reduce the existing problems in labor organizations, so we have the duty to invite members of the board of directors, inspectors and members of the organizations to comply with the resolutions of the general assembly and enforce them. “
Mahmoud Salehi wrote on his personal Facebook page to all the activists in Iran, Kurdistan, as well as the existing workers’ organizations:
- The general assembly is the supreme/premier pillar of decision-making in labor organizations.
- The Board and inspectors are elected by the members in general assemblies.
- The Board is required to hold the General Assembly once a year.
- If the Board refuses to call for the General Assembly, upon invitation of two thirds of the inspectors, or by written request from one third of the members with their signature, with issuing invitations to the public, the members must call for the General Assembly.
(Clause 4 will be changed to the general assembly and approved by the majority of the presented members.)
Mahmoud Salehi after publishing these principles said, “Workers’ Comrades, practicing these four principles, the existing problems in labor organizations will improve. We have a duty to invite members of the board of directors, inspectors and members of the organizations to comply with and enforce the resolutions of the general assembly. “
