According to the Campaign for the Defense of Political and Civil Prisoners, Nader Afshari, a civilian activist who was arrested by security guards at Tehran Student Park on February 1st, 2018 and was transferred to section 209 of the Ministry of Intelligence deployed at Evin Prison was temporarily released from the Evin Prison on 100 million Tomans bond.
On February 1st, 2018, during a global operation in different parts of Iran, Nader Afshari, along with many civil activists, were arrested by security forces. After being detained, they were transferred to Section 209 of the Ministry of Intelligence deployed at Evin Prison and went through a series of interrogations without access to a lawyer. Some of the detainees were temporarily released on bond, and some continue to be in pending and in difficult circumstances. Evin Prison has reportedly charged some of these people with propaganda against the regime and the community and collusion for action against national security.
Maryam Sabzeh Parvar, mother of Nader Afshari, had told the campaign about her child’s condition: “Nader was arrested at Student Park on Thursday February 1st. They contacted me on Friday and told me that Nader is in Evin. From Saturday, I went to Evin Prison every day to follow up on my son’s health and to learn about the reason for his arrest. Four days after Nader arrest, they came for house search. Every day, their response was that Nader was in recitation and in solitary confinement. Finally, after eight days of the Nader arrest, I was able to see him in person for 5 minutes. Nader said: “Mother, did they harass you? Why do you annoy yourself every day and come here?” I do not want someone to disrespect you. However, there were plenty of ordinary people in the prison hall along with prison agents. Except Fridays, I was following his case every day. They did not even allow Nader’s lawyer to study the case. 15 days after the arrest I was allowed to see my child again. I could see him inside prison cabin. Nader said: “Because they do not pay attention to my case, I strike and after a week I broke my strike.” They were constantly telling me; your son still has not unloaded all the information and interrogation has not been completed. For a long time, he was in the 209 hall and under stress. “
